‘ SLANG TRIO ‘ “Pasquale M. Morgante Slang Trio Lo Slang Trio, was born in 2012, the line up is Pasquale M. Morgante at the Rhodes Piano, Giannicola Spezzigu at the double bass and Marco Frattini at the drums; musicians coming from different musical and geographical area but based on Bologna. The band comes out from the idea of developing some recording techniques introduced aroun the 50’s by italo-american pianist Lennie Tristano. These, indeed, lead to have some musicians joining the recording session later, without a chance of a two way interaction, which jazz has always made possible since the earliest times. Difficulties included in this practice are double, because the trio has to play imaging a fourth “ghost” musician, who has to adapt himself to the preexisting mood. The “Slang Trio” preferred performing original tunes by selected italian composers arranging them subsequently. Its sound explores wide dynamic range through refinement, without ever moving the the pure musical aspect to the background. Through Fender Rhodes sound the trio create an excellent blend with featured guitar players (G. Cifarelli, P. Condorelli, U. Fiorentino, S. Gibellini, T. Lama) who found a “rich soil” to express themselves through their instrument.
