‘ Liberiamo il mondo ‘ In its kaleidoscopic “Liberiamo il mondo”(rid the world*), a title much less pretentious than it seems, Gino Sansonne wants “only” to generate doubts and that’s enough. Ridding the world is an instance of good, honest and pragmatic curiosity going beyond the sensational certainties imposed by media which are dangerously ambiguous. And the world spreading out to our perception, while we listen to this album, is never divided into separated parts: the world of ideas and the world of lands are one, this is the underlying message in every word, in every invite to look in a different light inside and outside of everyone. For the same reason, here is the music guiding us with delicate but precise countless encouragements, like harp solos’ one creating a space for reflection: for istance “Rosadimare” which, by taking us in troubled Palestine, opens international scenarios within a deep thoguht. Or in “La Vedova Scalza,” which focuses on the major Italian social issues. Or once again in “Delicatezza madzi”, a Chinyanja term that means “water” and it mixes the natural element poetry with social problem one, a present strong issues, water’s one, which is not only an African problem. The acoustic guitar instead is cleverly played within most intimate issues, especially in “Sono Qua” where is clearly perceivable how much the whole cd is impregnated with an atmosphere of unusual love: not that kind of love binding men with women, not the one binding man with things, not the one that is addictive, not the one that has to be earned. It is a mature love, rich in that piety which alone leads man to respect himself and others, because it is never transfigured, misrepresented or misunderstood: it is the love of those who see human limits harshly, therefore they wraps them with a self-deprecating absolution and bring them back to their true value, because that’s a man, and his being alone saves him from ridiculousness of impossible challenges. The accordion, instead, imposes itself fastly and ironically when it’s the case of slapping us down for our addiction to “multimedia void”, as in “La televisione”… and the violin, played in a Cajun-style in “Mobil Bay”, ends the CD bringing us back to a wider dimension, less concerned with self-identification, in Louisiana, New Orleans, before Katrina’s tragedy. Themes and music fits perfectly into a warm and bright Mediterranean pop, but at the same time, this Mediterranean identity, has no border, it rather provokes us and let us see our potential abilities to extend our look’s range, in order to recognize the “aesthetic” gap wherein we live and to be rid of it cleverly.
